Awarded the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization Director’s Prize at the 6th Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity

In December 2017, the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization Director’s Prize at the 6th Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity was awarded to the Takaranoyama Kyoto Model Forest Project (Creation program of forests in Kewara), which is a forest preservation activity conducted by ESPEC and ESPEC MIC based on a forest preservation agreement concluded with the local government of Oe-cho Kehara in Fukuchiyama City.
The Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity is an award system that recognizes companies and business operators that carry out activities which contribute to preserving and regenerating biodiversity. It aims to promote further expansion of such activities through broad internal and external PR.
Through the Kewara Forest Creation Program, we formulated the Takaranoyama Plan to identify new forest appeal with the “Diverse creatures living in the Kewara Forest” positioned as a Takara (treasure), and created a forest creature viewing map, constructed walking courses, and took other steps to promote the forest. This activity was also certified as an affiliated business by the Japan Committee for the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity.

This project was certified as a recommended project by the Japan Committee for the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (UNDB-J).
