ESPEC Certified with a B in the CDP Climate Change Survey and a B- in the CDP
Jan 13, 2026
ESPEC CORP. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka City; Representative Director and President: Satoshi Arata) received a B rating (the third highest among eight ratings) for climate change and a B- rating (the fourth highest among eight ratings) for water security in the FY2025 survey conducted by CDP*1, an international non-profit organization that provides an environmental disclosure system.
The survey assesses environmental initiatives related to climate change and water resources on a scale of 8 (A, A-, B, B-, C, C-, D, and D-). The B and B- ratings awarded this time correspond to the Management level, indicating that the Company is recognized for managing its environmental impacts and taking actions to establish its position as a leader in these fields.
ESPEC is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and is currently working toward a 60% reduction in SCOPE 1 and 2 (in-house) emissions and a 30% reduction in SCOPE 3 (indirect) emissions by FY2030 compared to FY2019. These goals have been certified by the international Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative*2 as science-based targets.
As part of its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ESPEC is promoting the introduction of renewable energy at its business sites in Japan and overseas. In April 2025, a U.S. group company began introducing renewable energy. In addition, the Company is engaged in the development of environmentally friendly products, including the launch of products that achieve energy savings and incorporate low GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants.
Efforts toward preserving water resources include conducting water risk assessments, as well as reducing the amounts of water used in regular business activities, recycling water, treating wastewater, and correctly managing wastewater quality.
ESPEC will continue to work toward combatting climate change and preserving water resources going forward, as well as actively disclose information.
