ESPEC CORP. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka City, Representative Director and President: Satoshi Arata) was listed for the second year in a row, in the Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders survey done in partnership with the Financial Times in the UK and German data provider Statista. The study lists companies contributing to greenhouse gas reductions in the Asia-Pacific region, with 350 companies being selected this year. In addition to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions (SCOPE 1 and 2) relative to sales from 2017 to 2022, companies are also evaluated on SCOPE 3 transparency, CDP score, SBT certification, and other indicators.
ESPEC is currently working toward a 60% reduction in SCOPE 1 and 2 (in-house) emissions and a 30% reduction in SCOPE 3 (indirect) emissions by FY2030 compared to FY2019. In FY2021, we completed introduction of renewable energy sources to sites in Japan, leading to a 48% reduction in SCOPE 1 and 2 emissions for FY2022 compared with FY2019 levels. We were also certified with a B score in the CDP climate change questionnaire for 4 consecutive years and received SBT certification in FY2023. These initiatives have been highly evaluated and led to our company being selected in the Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders survey. We will continue to actively reduce greenhouse gas emissions while working steadily toward the achievement of a sustainable society.
