Selected as an Asia-Pacific Climate Leader for the First Time

June 20, 2023

ESPEC CORP. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka City, Representative Director and President: Satoshi Arata) was listed for the first time as one of the top 275 performers (including 130 companies from Japan) in the Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders survey, done in partnership with the Financial Times in the UK and German data provider Statista.
This study looks at companies with headquarters in the Asia-Pacific region and focuses on reductions of SCOPE 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions per unit of sales between 2016 and 2021.
ESPEC is currently working toward a 60% reduction in SCOPE 1 and 2 (in-house) emissions and a 30% reduction in SCOPE 3 (indirect) emissions by FY2030 compared to FY2019. For SCOPE 1 and 2 emissions, we have begun introducing renewable energy at all offices, and in FY2021, we completed introduction of renewable energy at all offices in Japan. We are also working to increase the amount of power generated in-house and to introduce renewable energy to our overseas sites. For SCOPE 3 emissions, in addition to promoting development of environmentally friendly products that use both less energy and refrigerants with a low environmental impact, we are also working with suppliers to promote study sessions and other activities while also encouraging the establishment of specific reduction targets. These initiatives have been highly evaluated and led to our company being selected in the Asia-Pacific Climate Leaders survey.
We will continue to actively address climate change going forward while also promoting business activities that contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
