First Selection as Part of FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index

Apr. 14, 2022

ESPEC CORP. (Head office: Kita-ku Osaka City, Representative Director and President: Satoshi Arata) was selected for the first time as a component stock of the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index.

The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is constructed by the global index provider FTSE Russell. It is an index incorporating the performance of Japanese companies in each sector which are relatively superior in terms of their handling of the environment, society, and governance (ESG). The index has been designed so as to be sector neutral. To promote the transition to a low-carbon economy, companies with particularly high greenhouse gas emissions are included only if their improvement efforts are evaluated using the Transition Pathway Initiative's Management Quality Score.
This index has been adopted by Government Pension Investment Funds (GPIF) as an index for ESG, and is one of the most widely known indexes for ESG investment.

The ESPEC business approach to sustainability and information disclosure have been highly evaluated by this index, resulting in our recent selection. We will continue working to contribute to solving environmental problems and societal problems through our business, based on our company’s corporate philosophy (THE ESPEC MIND).

FTSE Russell (Registered trademark of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) hereby certifies that ESPEC CORP. has qualified for inclusion in the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index as a result of independent research. The FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index is widely used to create and evaluate sustainable investment funds and other financial products.
