Regarding the Recent Novel Coronavirus Infection at ESPEC

On Wednesday, January 20, and Thursday, January 21, two people at the ESPEC Kobe R&D Center and one person at the Fukuchiyama Plant (Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto) were confirmed as having become infected with the novel coronavirus.
One of the people at the Kobe R&D Center, following a fever on Saturday, January 9, was quarantining at home after falling ill. A PCR test was performed on Saturday, January 16, and the results came back positive. They will be working from home for the foreseeable future. The other person at the Kobe R&D Center, following a fever on Tuesday, January 12, was quarantining at home after falling ill. A PCR test was performed on Tuesday, January 19, and the results came back positive. They will be recuperating and/or working from home for the foreseeable future. The person at the Fukuchiyama Plant, upon a family member living with them getting a positive PCR test result, got a PCR test on Monday, January 18, and the results came back positive. They will be recuperating and/or working from home for the foreseeable future. Please note that the Public Health Center has confirmed that no one has come into close contact with the infected individuals.

ESPEC has, following the instructions of the Public Health Center, thoroughly disinfected the business office in question. We will also, in cooperation with the Public Health Center with jurisdiction over the office, take appropriate measures to ensure safety, including conducting temperature checks and health observations of all staff at the sales office and their families.
Furthermore, we are now working on reinforced measures against potential droplet infections and contact infections at each business site.
We apologize for any concern that may have been caused to local residents and to everyone else involved.
ESPEC will also continue to take appropriate infection control measures based on the policies of the federal and local governments.
