Energy Fest 2010Through programs such as the Environment Festival, Utsunomiya Technocomplex (UTC) has been providing environmental awareness activities for local residents since FY 2001. UTC is on Tochigi prefecture’s register of public factory and research facilities, making them available for use in environmental learning programs for local elementary and junior high school students, and opening them up to corporate and government visitors. Last year (FY 2010), UTC joined with local nonprofit organization PV Club Tochigi to hold Clean Energy Fest 2010, an event attended by 172 visitors and many of their family members. The event gave children several fun opportunities to learn about the environment through local cleanup activities, and hands-on lessons in making solar batteries and paper. |
